CS101 Supplemental Content

Available as Adobe Acrobat PDF on CS101 website at http://cs101.wvu.edu/supplementalcontent/.  Content may be updated throughout the course of the semester.

USB Keychain Drive
It is required that you have a USB keychain drive for use with CS101.  These drives, such as the JumpDrive, are fairly inexpensive, small, and can hold many files.  Plus, they are much more reliable than floppy drives.  With a USB keychain drive, it is easy to take all of your files with you to class in case you need to get assistance.

Computer with Internet Access, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
To complete the assignments for this class, you will need a computer with Internet access and Microsoft Office installed.

MyITLab Requirements
MyITLab is only supported on systems running Microsoft Windows.  You need to have reliable Internet access on the computer that you wish to use for MyITLab.

If you cannot install MyITLab on your own computer, it is available in the CS101 labs and in the OIT/AIS Central Computing Labs (Bennett Tower, White Hall Computing Center, and the Evansdale Library basement).

Microsoft Office Requirements
In CS101, we focus on using four Microsoft Office 2007 applications: Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.  The Professional and Enterprise versions of Office 2007 include all of these programs, but other versions such as Office for Students & Teachers, do not.  Also, Office for Mac doesn't include Access so it would be of limited usefulness.

A fully-functional 180-day trial of Office 2007 is included in your textbook bundle.  If you do not already have Office 2007, you should use the trial version.  We strongly suggest that you do not attempt to use an older version of Office - things will appear substantially different and they lack features available in Office 2007.

The bundled trial version of Office 2007 is one-time use only.  If you already have installed a trial version of Office 2007 on your computer and it has expired, you will need to purchase the full version if you wish to continue using Office 2007 on your system.  Academic discounted versions can be bought through JourneyEd.com

Computer Alternatives
If you do not have a computer that meets the requirements listed, you may wish to consider using one of the public Lab Facilities on campus.
