Chapter Notes

Conditional statistical functions

Statistical functions, such as SUM, AVERAGE, and COUNT, perform calculations on the range specified in the arguments [1]. Conditional statistical functions, such as SUMIF, AVERAGEIF, and COUNTIF, perform calculations based on a condition [1]. We've already looked at basic statistical functions in Excel Chapter 2. This chapter add a conditional if onto the the original function.Adding an IF to each of these functions allows you to determine if a value will be included in the calculation or not.  For example, you might want to use the COUNTIF function to count all of the As in a class.
