Welcome to CS101. I am Lisa McGee, your instructor for this course. This is my first semester teaching CS101 but I took the course as an undergraduate and proctored it for 4 semesters. I also work full time for the Office of Accessibility Services on the main campus. The best way to contact me is via my MIX email (lmstender@mix.wvu.edu). Please do not use my @mail.wvu.edu email address. When sending emails, please use your WVU MIX account and include your full name and section number in all emails.

We are an asynchronous online class for the Fall Semester. I’ll open a Zoom link on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm where you are welcome to join me and ask any questions you might have. Robert Phipps and Rebecca Tarabrella also teach an asynchronous section of this course and plan to do the same - you will be welcome to join any of our zooms. They will be listed on our home pages. If none of these times work for you, please use the schedule with me link in my email signature below to schedule a one-on-one meeting.

CS101 does not use e-campus. Please bookmark https://cs101.wvu.edu as the course website and https://cs101.wvu.edu/instructors/mcgee/ as my website. All your assignments and grades will be linked from this site. You will submit participations, homework, and exams at https://cs101.wvu.edu/tools.

We are not a self-paced class. The full semester schedule is posted to our site.  Participations will be regularly due each Sunday with no late submissions. Homeworks can be submitted up to 4 days late, but with a 20% per day penalty. Exams will be due the day they are due. The only exception to this is MyLab - MyLab can be submitted late up to the deadline in the syllabus (typically the next to last day of class) for a 50% late fee.

To prepare for this course, my suggestion would be to look over the following weblinks and watch the videos:

If you are a person with a Disability and anticipate needing any type of accommodation in order to participate in this course, please make appropriate arrangements with the Office of Accessibility Services through their website at http://www.accessibilityservices.wvu.edu/

I am looking forward to a great semester! Thank you!
