Displaying non-printing characters
You can display non-printing characters such as tabs, spaces, and returns by toggling the Show/Hide option on the Home ribbon [1].
Creating headers and footers
Headers and footers are areas in the top and bottom margins of each page in a document. They can be used to display information like the page number, file name, or date of the revision [1].
Tips & Tricks
Status bar
Don't forget the status bar at the bottom of the window. It gives a running tally of word count, your location in the document, and what section you are in. It's often overlooked and is very helpful [2].
