Assignment Notes

Tables are very useful - especially for sorting and filtering.  They’re something I use nearly every day, and if your job will require any use of data, I think you’ll find them as useful as I do.

A few notes about the assignment-

  • Numbers are rows
  • Letters are columns
  • In step 3b, you’re asked to insert new columns in the table. Right click IN the table and choose to insert a column to the right.  You’ll rename the columns later.
  • Step 4a asks you to format in a table style of your choice - highlight the table (the range specified) and under the home tab, look for the Format as Table button. Pick a style, any style.
  • Step 6a asks you to turn on total row. Click in the table.  Go to the Ribbon, click on the contextual “Table” ribbon that shows up.  Click on total row.  It will appear at the ed of the table.
  • Answering the analysis questions are optional.
